Vocabulario: Useful phrases from Spanish with Paul

Spanish with Paul offers some easy ways to say useful things with his videos which give you lots of opportunities to practice them. Here are some that I think are particularly powerful. If you aren't completely familiar with any of these phrases, I suggest you watch the entire video.

Estoy acostumbrado/a a ... verb/noun

Estoy acostumbrada a ir al lago cada dia.
Estoy acostumbrada a estudiar español varios horas todos los días.
Estoy acostumbrada a caminar diez mil pasos casi todos días.
Estoy acostumbrada a tomar un café con mis amigas por la mañana.

Me hace ... feliz, triste, enfermo/a, celoso/a ... (adjetivos - emociones)
o reir, llorar, olvidar (verbos)

Me hace feliz verte.
Me hace llorar.

Me da ... alegría, placer, dolor, felicidad ... (sustantivos)

Me da alegría
Me da mucha alegría estar aquí contigo otra vez.
Me da miedo manejar sola en la noche.
Me da risa todos los días.

 Estoy de acuerdo ...
no estoy de acuerdo con eso
estoy de acuerdo que deberíamos hablar con él

Estoy de ... can be linked to other ideas:

Estoy de vacaciones (I am on holiday)
Estoy de buen humor (I am in a good mood)
o estoy de mal humor

also in the video:
Tengo ganas de ... (I feel like)

"I found out" ... supe o descubrí?

Paul says native speakers use descubrí for a positive statement
and supe for a negative ...

Lo descubrí ... I found out.
o
No lo supe ... I didn't find out.

(siempre con "lo" ... unless using a specific)

Ayer descubrí la verdad.
No lo supe qué pasó.

One of the great things about Paul's videos is that he works in
a lot of other vocabulary that you get to practice.
Such as a propósito ... by the way.

Gramática: Lessons with Paul

One of my favorite Spanish YouTubers is Spanish with Paul. He has some very inexpensive courses but also has a ton of free YouTube videos. One of the things I like about his videos is that he makes you repeat everything and challenges you to make sentences out loud, step by step.

I highly recommend taking his courses,  but here are a few of his specialized videos I've found useful recently:
